Hi Guérout,
First of all, we've just released CloudSim 3.0, so please have a look at the new version. However, not much has changed in the aspect you are asking about.
The PowerModelSpec* classes contain the values of power consumption by a whole server for different load levels (CPU utilization) in 10% increments. These values are obtained from real measurements of the power consumption by the corresponding server from the SPECpower web site. It's unknown what DVFS policy was used for the measurements. Therefore, we model DVFS as follows:
۱/ At each iteration we get the CPU utilization at the previous and current time steps. The length of an iteration depends on the schedulingInterval parameter set for the simulation.
۲/ Using linear interpolation we calculate the values of the power consumption for the previous and current time steps from the table of the power model. Let's say the CPU utilization is 13%, then we need to get the power consumption at 10% and 20%, and find a value between them using linear interpolation. The same is done for both the previous and current values. This is the reason why there are 4 calls to the power model at each time step.
۳/ Knowing the power consumption at the previous time step, current time step, length of a time step, and again using linear interpolation, we calculate the energy consumption during the time period.
The calculations are done in PowerHost and are initiated in PowerDatacenter.
If you need to model different DVFS policies, you can extend the PowerHost and PowerDatacenter classes and override the default behavior by your own implementation.
